Correct Care and Handling of CDâ s and DVDâ s
Extend the life of your discs with gentle handing and care. Here are a few tips for preventing scratches and smudges.
Writing labels. Account a soft felt-tipped pen to create on your disc. Avoid using pencils or ballpoints. Autograph on the top of the disc only.
Storing discs. Keep your discs outside from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures, and never tolerance them out after using them.
Proper cleaning. If your disc gets dirty or dusty, you can clean it using water, a tiny amount of soap, and a soft, lint-free cloth. Wipe from the centre of the disc outwards in straight lines.
Handle carefully. Grasp the cd with your thumb in the center gap and your fingers along the outer edge of the disc. Avoid touching the surface, particularly on the bottom.
Dealing with scratches. Polish the scratched globe with a toothpaste-covered cotton swab or cloth, stirring from the center of the disc to the edge.
If this doesnâ t work, coat the disc in a thin layer of Vaseline, neutral shoe polish, or furniture wax. Wipe off the excess develop with a soft cloth, moving in a straight borderline from the center of the disc to the edge.
Provided none of these tips work, take your disc to a CD store for refinishing.
Discs can extreme much longer if you clean and affliction for them properly. Follow these tips, and your discs will last as extended as you need them to.
