The five key things to part into consideration your conference call convention
Choosing a teleconferencing provider is not easy. Just type the phrase "conference call" into Google and you'll see lots of companies. Fortunately, most of them differentiate themselves on a handful of factors. Sympathetic these elements, and thinking through their relative importance to the needs of your company, is the best way to produce a good decision. Research in the production indicates that there are five elements which normally enable a user to make a prudent decision. To aid you make that decision, this article reviews these five areas.
1. Cost
All-conference calling systems cost at least something to use. This is true even of the the systems that brand themselves as "free." Why is that? With the exception of an entirely VOIP based system (e.g. Skype), all-conference calling services require users to dial a bridge number. In the situation of services that afford toll-free access numbers, a per minute fee is assessed. The lowest rate you can typically get is several cents on a per minute basis typically you'll be paying five to ten cents per minute. This charge is assessed cumulatively. In other words, if there are 5 people on a 60 minute call, a 300 minute charge will be levied. Some services still charge legacy prices of 20 or 25 cents a minute and these plans are to be avoided! As mentioned earlier, some services are free with respect to the feature that there is no charge imposed by the provider. However, these services do not provide a toll-free symbol with their free services and thus users will incur normal long-distance charges to participate.
2. Scheduling capability
Services usually fall into one of two general buckets. Paid and custom corporate services often provide a scheduling interface which enables the organizer to place up the convention call. For those services that feature an Outlook integration or similar sort of functionality, a pin code and dial-in number can be allocated to the user for situations where the user wants to do her own call scheduling. The free offerings usually feed only a pin code and dial-in number; the initiator of the teleconference telephone is responsible for sending individual e-mails and maintaining track of individual follow-ups. 3. Recording and Archiving
For many organizations, the faculty to store information connected to the call or yet the bell itself can be mere useful. Some services allow vinyl of the teleconference call in WAV format, GSM or both formats. Some users choose a best-of-breed entrance and use at variance providers for their desktop sharing and audio conferencing. Increasingly, however, audio conference calling companies are moving quickly to bundle desktop sharing capabilities into their core product. In the case of well-known companies such as GoToMeeting, this is bit of a strategy to capture both segments of the market. In the case of conferencing, desktop sharing is being offered as a paid functionality to assemble added revenue.
5. Personalization
A typical complaint from users of conference calling systems is the need to remember fortuitous dial--in numbers and pin-codes. In the last year, confluence of telecom and internet technologies is solving this problem. Some original conference call services own for users to customize their PIN codes to PIN codes more memorable. Some systems besides offer pinless access when users call from a known phone number. Such systems, however, do require user registration in order to enable a matching of the user's phone number.
